Natural Gas Shelters

Considerations for Natural Gas Shelters

Openchannelflow Fiberglass Shelters are factory engineered to meet the demanding requirement of the natural gas industry. Lightweight X-web construction allows our natural gas shelters to be moved to and positioned on site with a minimum of manpower and equipment.

Inside each fiberglass shelter panel and roof seams are glassed for complete weather-tight construction – regardless of the conditions outside!

Pound for pound stronger than steel, fiberglass construction ensures that each shelter is durable, secure, and ready for a long, useful life out in the field.

Some common Natural Gas Shelter applications include:

  • Analyzers
  • City Gate Stations
  • Distribution and Transmission
  • Instrumentation Systems
  • Fire Protection
  • Metering Stations
  • Odorizer Shelters
  • Power Generation
  • Regulator Stations
  • Safety Equipment
  • Telemetry / Scada Systems
  • Water Separation

High quality gel coats and resins produce fiberglass shelters that can withstand decades of exposure to atmospheric pollution and harsh weather with minimal color fading. Openchannelflow’s sealed construction means that there is no need for the annual maintenance that is so common with stick built and even metal constructed shelters. This helps to drive down total lifecycle costs and makes them an ideal solution for remote installations.

At the heart of each Openchannelflow Fiberglass Shelters is our propriety X-Web technology. X-Web provides high strength through each wall and roof section – bonded interior, middle, and exterior laminates together in such a way that the resulting shelter is pound for pound stronger than steel construction.

Fiberglass is naturally resistant vandalism, dents, abrasions, cracking and peeling. As well as to most forms of corrosion.

To help you bring piping into / out of our natural gas shelters, Openchannelflow offers wall cut-outs and bulkheads in a range of sizes. Wall cut-outs provide factory integrated openings, while bulkheads allow for field installation of penetrations / piping in a general area – allowing you to site them exactly as field conditions require.

To aid the installation / removal of larger equipment, roof hatches can be integrated or the roof can be designed to be remove as a single piece. Endless shelter customization is the hallmark of our modular design!

For high noise environments where operators need visual clues on use and function, exterior shelter colors can help operators know at a glance the function of a natural gas shelter without the need to ever enter it. With over 210 different exterior colors, you can customize your Openchannelflow Fiberglass Shelter to provide your operators the maximum safety.
